We never thought we would be dealing with something like this (Coronavirus) in our lives. A pandemic has put the entire world on hold and we are trying our best to deal with it.

The best thing to do right now is to maintain social distancing and take care of our immunity system so we can fight this virus. This is a time to take care of hygiene and health more than ever.

So here are a few things we can do to boost our immunity against Coronavirus without going over the budget.

1.  Plant Food

Whole plants like vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds are very rich in nutrients that will keep you healthy and fire up your immune system. The antioxidants present in these whole plants will help you fight all kinds of inflammation.

Fruits and vegetables contain vitamin C which is a very important nutrient when it comes to fighting the common cold. The fiber in plants will keep your gut healthy and avoid harmful pathogens from getting in your digestive tract.

2.  Healthy Fats

It is very important to include healthy fats in your dietduring this time. Try to incorporate olive oil for cooking as it is highly anti-inflammatory and will reduce the risk of many heart diseases and diabetes.

Also include omega-rich fatty acids (fish, flaxseeds, walnuts, etc.) as these fats may naturally fight common illnesses.

3.  Get Enough Sleep

A good healthy sleep of 6-8 hours is recommended to recharge and keep our bodies healthy. Not getting enough sleep will put a strain on our physical health as well as our mental health.

We are more likely to get sick if we do not get adequate sleep since our body has to work harder to get the energy without getting a break to re-energize itself.

When we are sick we tend to sleep more to regain our immunity so getting enough sleep will actually boost our immune system.

If you have trouble sleeping, try to limit your screen time and choose a dark comfortable room to sleep and that too at the same time every night.

4.  Fermented Or Probiotic Supplement

Fermented foods are rich in useful bacteria which are known as probiotics that keep our digestive tract healthy. The foods like yogurt, kimchi, kefir have probiotics that will keep your digestive tract healthy.

This way it will help our body to distinguish between good and bad bacteria and our body will be ready to fight better by using immune cells. You can also get probiotic supplements if you do not eat fermented food in general.

5.  Avoid Refined Sugar

The refined sugar that we find in junk foods or packaged foods is not just bad for our physical health but also our mental health. The refined sugar and processed carb is the number one culprit of obesity and overweight problems that we face today.

This issue not only compromises our immunity but also adds to many other health-related problems. Limiting sugar intake will help you control your weight which in turn will help you boost your immunity.

Since we are already in quarantine mode, it is easier to curb your refined sugar intake without the availability of outside food.

6.  Exercise

Exercising not only will help you in relieve your stress but will also aid in boosting your immune system by making your physical body stronger and healthier.

Try to include any form of exercise like dance, yoga, Zumba, home workouts, or Pilates suiting your type. Just half an hour of moderate exercising is more than enough to help you with faster immune cell turnover.

7.  Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated not necessarily helps you combat illnesses but it does help you stay energized and focused and keep your mood uplifted. Dehydration can cause headaches and hinder your performance and can affect your heart and kidney functions which in turn will make you more susceptible to illness.

Try to meet your daily fluid intake requirement without fail as it will keep you more active and also you will feel a glow on your skin. Water is recommended because it has 0 calories and no sugar instead of tea and juices which do add to your calorie intake and sugar levels.

If you live in a hot climate or exercise regularly, try to drink more than you usually do to make up for the lost hydration.

Limit your stress levels too in addition to these to avoid inflammation and imbalance of immune cell function by meditating for a few minutes every morning.

Although we do not have a definite cure for coronavirus yet taking care of our health right now is the least we can do to make sure we can fight this virus. People with better immune systems are recovering at a rapid rate so we should take our immune system seriously.

We have mentioned above all the possible ways to boost our immune system against the Coronavirus in your Budget– COVID-19. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to mention them in the comments section below.
